     Sir Reginald Hardy, 2nd Bt. was born on 15 September 1848.¹ He was the son of Sir John Hardy, 1st Bt. and Laura Holbech.² He married Lucy Marion Gladstone, daughter of Captain John Neilson Gladstone and Elizabeth Honoria Bateson, on 29 April 1876.¹ He died on 6 August 1938 at age 89.³
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1873 entitled to practice as a barrister.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Hardy, of Dunstall Hall, co. Stafford [U.K., 1876] on 9 July 1888.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1893.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Staffordshire.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Staffordshire.¹ He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Staffordshire Imperal Yeomanry.³

     Lucy Marion Gladstone was the daughter of Captain John Neilson Gladstone and Elizabeth Honoria Bateson.² She married Sir Reginald Hardy, 2nd Bt., son of Sir John Hardy, 1st Bt. and Laura Holbech, on 29 April 1876.¹ She died on 4 October 1921.¹
      From 29 April 1876, her married name became Hardy.

     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant between 1903 and 1905 in the service of the 4th Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment.¹ He gained the rank of Major between 1905 and 1925 in the service of the Royal Scots Guards.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Staffordshire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Staffordshire.¹ He held the office of Member of the Staffordshire County Council between 1937 and 1952.¹ He was Deputy Chairmam of the Quarter Sessions, Staffordshire between 1939 and 1956.¹

     Una Hardy was the daughter of Sir Reginald Hardy, 2nd Bt. and Lucy Marion Gladstone.² She died on 25 September 1965, unmarried.¹
