     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He fought in the Expedition to Darfur in 1916.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Engineers.1 He was awarded the Order of the Nile.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)1
