     Maj.-Gen. John Oswald Claud Alexander was born on 23 March 1936.¹ He is the son of Lt.-Col. Claud Alexander and Maude Clazey.² He married Mary Jean Birkett, daughter of Colonel Derek Grant Birkett, on 22 December 1962.¹
