     Nicholas de Lorraine, Duc de Mercoeur was born in 1524. He was the son of Antoine II, Duc de Lorraine and Renée de Bourbon-Montpensier. He married, firstly, Margaret von Egmond. He married, secondly, Joanna di Savoia-Nemours in 1555. He married, thirdly, Catherine d'Aumale, daughter of Claude de Guise, Duc d'Aumale and Louise de Brézé, in 1569. He died in 1577.
     Nicholas de Lorraine, Duc de Mercoeur gained the title of Duc de Mercoeur.
