     Sir James Foulis of Colinton is the son of James Foulis of Colinton and Agnes Heriot.² He married Barbara Lauder, daughter of Sir William Lauder of Haltoun and Jean Cockburn, before 10 February 1590.^1,3
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Edinburgh [Scotland] in 1612.¹

     Sir William Lauder of Haltoun married Jean Cockburn, daughter of John Cockburn.² He died in November 1596 at Haltoun House, Ratho, Midlothian, Scotland.²

     Barbara Lauder was the daughter of Sir William Lauder of Haltoun and Jean Cockburn.^3,2 She married John Cunningham of Cunninghamhead.² She married Sir James Foulis of Colinton, son of James Foulis of Colinton and Agnes Heriot, before 10 February 1590.^1,2 She died between 1 August 1601 and November 1604.²
     Her married name became Cunningham.² From before 10 February 1590, her married name became Foulis.

     He held the office of a Lord of Session in 1674.¹ He gained the title of Lord Retford [Scottish Law Lord] in 1684.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Edinburgh [Scotland] between 1686 and 1693.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Foulis, of Colinton [N.S., 1634] on 19 January 1688.¹ He opposed the union of the English and Scottish parliaments.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1702.¹

     Margaret Boyd is the daughter of John Boyd.¹ She married James Foulis, Lord Retford, son of James Foulis, Lord Colinton and Barbara Ainslie, on 4 September 1670.¹
     From 4 September 1670, her married name became Foulis.
