     Hon. James Ochoncar Forbes was born on 6 November 1837.1 He was the son of Sir John Forbes of Craigievar, 7th Bt. and Hon. Charlotte Elizabeth Forbes.2 He was baptised on 28 December 1837 at Fintray, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.3 He married Harriet Hall, daughter of Sir Charles Hall, on 4 August 1863.1 He died on 5 May 1900 at age 62.1
     On 14 April 1887 he was granted the rank of a Lord of Parliament's younger son.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Aberdeenshire.1 He lived at Corse, Lumphanan, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1

     Harriet Hall was the daughter of Sir Charles Hall.2 She married Hon. James Ochoncar Forbes, son of Sir John Forbes of Craigievar, 7th Bt. and Hon. Charlotte Elizabeth Forbes, on 4 August 1863.1 She died on 1 March 1894.1
     From 4 August 1863, her married name became Forbes.

     Lt.-Col. Patrick Walter Forbes was born on 11 May 1914.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. James Ochoncar Forbes and Nora Maude Abercromby.2 He married Margaret Hawthorne Lydall, daughter of Charles Hawthorne Lydall, on 16 December 1939.1 He died in 1979.1
     He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was commander of the 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders between 1956 and 1959.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1959.1 He retired from the military in 1960, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the Gordon Highlanders.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Aberdeenshire in 1963.1 He lived at Corse, Lumphanan, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1
