     Sir William Forbes-Sempill, 17th Lord Sempill was born on 20 May 1836 at Fintray, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1,2 He was the son of Sir John Forbes of Craigievar, 7th Bt. and Hon. Charlotte Elizabeth Forbes.3 He was baptised on 4 August 1836 at Fintray, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.2 He married, firstly, Caroline Louisa Forbes, daughter of Sir Charles Forbes of Newe, 3rd Bt. and Caroline Battye, on 23 June 1858.1 He and Caroline Louisa Forbes were divorced in 1861.1 He married, secondly, Frances Emily Abercromby, daughter of Sir Robert Abercromby of Birkenbog, 5th Bt. and Elizabeth Stephenson Douglas, on 18 November 1862 at St. James, Westminster, London, EnglandG.1,2 He married, thirdly, Mary Beresford Lowe, daughter of Henry Sherbrooke, on 30 April 1890.3 He died on 21 July 1905 at age 69 at Craigievar, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.3,2
