     Major Michael Lewes Dix Hamilton was born on 3 July 1910.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Stephen Hamilton Dix and Ida Mary Turpin.2 He married Mabel Evelyn Selina Mary Woodburn, daughter of Dr. William Young Woodburn and Lady Mabel Evelyn Selina Mary Foljambe, on 23 October 1943.1 He died on 26 August 1981 at age 71.2
     He was given the name of Michael Lewes Dix at birth.2 He was a practising solicitor.2 In 1940 his name was legally changed to Michael Lewes Dix Hamilton by Deed Poll.2 He gained the rank of Major in the Lovat Scouts.1

     Mabel Evelyn Selina Mary Woodburn also went by the nick-name of Brownie.3 From 23 October 1943, her married name became Dix Hamilton.1
