     Sir William Elphinstone of that Ilk is the son of Alexander Elphinstone of that Ilk and Agnes Airth.2
     In 1399 he was granted a charter of lands he held from Sir William Lindsay of the Byres in favour of himself and the heirs male of his body, with remainder to his brothers.1

     She inherited the Elphinstone lands in East Lothian.1 Her married name became Johnstone.
