     Rear-Admiral John Hilton was born circa 1935.1 He was the son of Edward Thomas Hilton and Margaret Norah Attrill Millard.1 He married, firstly, Patricia Anne Kirby in 1958.1 He and Patricia Anne Kirby were divorced in 1979.1 He married, secondly, Cynthia Mary Caroline Hargreave, daughter of Ian Edward Hargreave and Virginia Susan Stewart-Brown, in 1985.1 He died on 14 July 2009.1
     Rear-Admiral John Hilton graduated with a Master of Science (M.Sc.).1 He was registered as a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.).1 He graduated with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.).1
