     Commander Grosvenor Stopford was born on 15 November 1845.1 He was the son of Captain Edward Stopford and Julia Maria Wilbraham.1 He married Sara Palmer, daughter of John Palmer Palmer, on 9 June 1874.1 He died on 14 November 1875 at age 29.1
     Commander Grosvenor Stopford gained the rank of Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.1

     Commander Robert Maurice Stopford was born on 16 July 1890.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Horace Robert Stopford and Marguerite Louisa Greathed MacDowell.1 He married Elsie Helen Lawson, daughter of Captain Francis William Lawson, on 11 February 1920.1 He died on 22 November 1978 at age 88.1
     Commander Robert Maurice Stopford fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was decorated with the award of Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.).1 He fought in the Second World War.1
