     He was also known as Simon.2 He was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was commander of the Patrol Boats, Far East Station between 1958 and 1959.1 He retired from the military in 1965, with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, late of the Royal Navy.1 He was a Navigating Officer.1 He lived in 1976 at Leinster Stud, Old Carton, Maynooth, County Kildare, IrelandG.2

     Francis Cosbie was born in 1510.1 He was the son of John Cosbie.2 He married, firstly, Lady Mary Seymour, daughter of Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset and Anne Stanhope.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Palmes in 1575.1 He died on 25 August 1580 at Glenmalure, County Wicklow, IrelandG, killed in action.1
     He settled in Ireland during the reign of Queen Mary I.1 He was an active defender of the Pale.1 On 14 February 1558 he was appointed General of the Keme by patent.1 In 1562 he was granted the site of the suppressed Abbey of Stradbally.1 He fought in the Battle of Glenmalure on 25 August 1580.1
