     Sir Arthur John Dorman, 1st Bt. was born on 8 August 1848.¹ He was the son of Charles Dorman and Emma Page.² He married Clara Share Lockwood, daughter of George Lockwood, in March 1873.¹ He died on 12 February 1931 at age 82.¹
     Sir Arthur John Dorman, 1st Bt. was founder and chairman of Dorman, Long & Company at Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, North Riding, England.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the North Riding, Yorkshire.¹ He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.).¹ He was created 1st Baronet Dorman, of Nunthorpe, co. Yorks [U.K.] on 21 July 1923.¹

Yorks [U.K., 1923] on 5 September 1956.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1961.¹ He was GSO(1) of the (ADSR) AORE between 1961 and 1964.¹
