     Captain James Chaigneau Colvill was born on 20 October 1892 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1,2 He was the son of Robert Frederick Stewart Colvill and Sophia Maconchy.1 He married Margaret Beryl Dundas, daughter of Hon. William Fitzwilliam James Dundas and Mary Maud Prinsep, on 12 April 1920.1 He died on 29 November 1976 at age 84.2
     He was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He retired from the military in 1936, with the rank of Captain, late of the Royal Navy.1 He was Commissioner of of Irish Lights after 1938.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he commanded destroyers.1 He lived in 1976 at Cloghereen, Howth, County Dublin, IrelandG.1,3
