Arthur Dawson was born on 9 October 1698.2 He was the son of Joshua Dawson and Anne Carr.3 He married Jane Oriel O'Neill, daughter of John Sean an Franca O'Neill, on 10 June 1729.2 He died in May 1775 at age 76.2
He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1715 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).2 He was admitted to Irish Bar in 1723.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Derry between 1729 and 1742.2 He held the office of Baron of the Exchequer [Ireland] in 1742.2 He lived at Castledawson, County Derry, Ireland.2
