     Sir Edward Butler, 1st Viscount Galmoye was the son of Piers FitzThomas Butler and Hon. Catherine Fleming.2 He married Hon. Anne Butler, daughter of Edmund Butler, 2nd Viscount Montgarret.1 He died in 1653,.1
     Sir Edward Butler, 1st Viscount Galmoye was invested as a Knight on 1 November 1619.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Kilkenny in 1640.1 In 1646 he attended the Confederation of Kilkenny.1 He was created 1st Viscount Galmoye, in co. Kilkenny [Ireland] on 16 May 1646.1 He lived at Galmoy Castle, County Kilkenny, Ireland.1
