     Sir Benjamin Heywood, 1st Bt. was born on 12 December 1793.¹ He was the son of Nathaniel Heywood and Ann Percival.² He married Sophia Ann Robinson, daughter of Thomas Robinson, on 22 October 1816.¹ He died on 11 August 1865 at age 71.³
     He succeeded to the title of 1st Baronet Heywood, of Claremont, co. Lancaster [U.K.] on 9 August 1838.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire.¹ He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.).¹
