     Sir Benjamin Heywood, 1st Bt. was born on 12 December 1793.1 He was the son of Nathaniel Heywood and Ann Percival.2 He married Sophia Ann Robinson, daughter of Thomas Robinson, on 22 October 1816.1 He died on 11 August 1865 at age 71.3
     He succeeded to the title of 1st Baronet Heywood, of Claremont, co. Lancaster [U.K.] on 9 August 1838.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire.1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.).1
