Brig.-Gen. Edward FitzGerald Brereton was born in 1861.1 He was the son of William Westropp Brereton and Geraldine Mary Kean.2 He married Fanny Gertrude Foster, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Edward Percival Foster.1 He died on 6 April 1937.1
He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1897 and 1898.1 He fought in the Boer War.1 He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1902.1 He was commander of the 2nd Battalion between 1907 and 1911.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the service of the Northamptonshire Regiment.1 He was commander of the 2nd West Riding Brigade (TF), 147 Infantry Brigade.1 He was commander of the Wessex Reserve Brigade.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1916.1 He held the office of Commisisoner of Boy Scouts in 1921.1
