Sir Henry Hoghton, 6th Bt. was born on 22 October 1728.1 He was the son of Philip Hoghton and Elizabeth Sclater.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Ashurst, daughter of William Ashurst, in 1761.1 He married, secondly, Fanny Booth, daughter of Daniel Booth, on 8 July 1766.3 He died on 9 March 1795 at age 66.3
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Preston between 1768 and 1795.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Hoghton, of Hoghton Tower, and Walton le Dale, co. Lancaster [E., 1611] on 23 February 1768.1
