Captain Francis Rawdon Moira Crozier was born in September 1796 at Banbridge, County Down, IrelandG.1 He was the son of George Crozier and Jane Elliot Graham.1 He died circa 1848.1
He was commissioned in June 1810, in the service of the Royal Navy.2 Between 1821 and 1823 member of Parry's second expedition to find the North-West Passage.2 In 1827 a member of Parry's failed attempt to reach the North Pole.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Astronomical Society (F.R.A.S.) in 1827.2 He gained the rank of Commander in 1837.2 He was second-in-command of Ross' expedition to explore Antarctica between 1839 and 1843.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1841.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1843.2 He was second-in-command of Franklin's failed expedition to find the North-West Passage, where the entire expedition perished in 1845.2
