Sarah Rimes was the daughter of James Rimes.2 She married Thomas Andrew Minchin, son of Richard Minchin and Elizabeth Lipscomb, on 28 February 1788.1 She died in July 1806.1

James Innes Minchin was born on 12 March 1825.1 He was the son of James Minchin and Susan Mary Cherry.2 He married, firstly, Mary MacLeod, daughter of John MacLeod, on 24 September 1849.1 He married, secondly, Mary Duff Anne Dickson, daughter of Robert Dickson, in 1877.1 He died on 18 January 1903 at age 77.1
James Innes Minchin was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.1 He was with the Madras Civil Service between 1844 and 1873.1 He was Member of the Council of India.1
