     Anne Barclay Gamble was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Gamble.1 She married, firstly, Lt.-Cdr. Anthony Stuart Melville-Ross in 1943.1,2 She and Lt.-Cdr. Anthony Stuart Melville-Ross were divorced in 1955.2 She married, secondly, Peter Gerard Scrope Fane, son of Gerard William Reginald Fane and Constance Rhoda Elizabeth Bacon, on 27 November 1963.1 She married, thirdly, Major Henry John Fane, son of Francis John Fane and Violet Bower, after 1977.3 She died on 3 April 2013.4
     From 1943, her married name became Melville-Ross.1 From 27 November 1963, her married name became Fane.1

She was President of the Royal College of Suregons.1 From 1989, her married name became Fane.1 She held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk.2 She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 2007.2 In 2018 her name became Dame Clare Lucy Fane. She was appointed Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 2018.2
