     Edmund Roe Butler, 4th Viscount Mountgarret was born circa 1595.1 He was the son of Richard Butler, 3rd Viscount Mountgarret and Margaret O'Neill.1 He married, firstly, Lady Dorothy Tuchet, daughter of Mervyn Tuchet, 2nd Earl of Castlehaven and Elizabeth Barnham.1 He married, secondly, Anne Tresham, daughter of Sir Thomas Tresham, in 1635.1 He married, thirdly, Elizabeth Simeon, daughter of Sir George Simeon and Mary Vaux, in 1637.1 He died on 5 April 1679.1
     In 1641 he joined his father in the 1641 Uprising.1 He held the office of Governor of Kilkenny in 1646.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Charles II exiled amry.1 He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Mountgarret, co. Wexford [I., 1550] in 1651.1 In 1660 he was pardoned and given back his estates.1

     Lady Catherine Gordon was the daughter of George Gordon, 2nd Earl of Huntly and Lady Elizabeth Hay.1 She married, fourthly, Christopher Ashton.2 She married, firstly, Perkin Warbeck in January 1495/96.3 She married, secondly, James Strangeways before 13 February 1512.3 She married, thirdly, Sir Matthew Cradock in 1517.3 She died in October 1537, without issue.1 Her will was proven (by probate) on 5 November 1537 at London, EnglandG.3
     Her married name became Ashton.2 From January 1495/96, her married name became Warbeck.3 From before 13 February 1512, her married name became Strangeways.3 From 1517, her married name became Cradock.3 Her last will was dated 12 October 1537.3
