     Sir Hugh George Harley Ripley, 4th Bt. was born on 26 May 1916.1 He was the son of Sir Henry William Alfred Ripley, 3rd Bt. and Dorothy Harley.2 He married, firstly, Dorothy Mary Dunlop Jones, daughter of John Cumming Bruce-Jones and Dorothy Euphemia Mitchell Dunlop, on 26 March 1946.1 He and Dorothy Mary Dunlop Jones were divorced in 1971.1 He married, secondly, Hilary Susan Parker, daughter of W. Parker, on 15 June 1972.1 He died on 28 October 2003 at age 87.1
     Sir Hugh George Harley Ripley, 4th Bt. was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice and was wounded.3 He was decorated with the award of U.S. Silver Star.1 He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Ripley, of Acacia, Rawdon, West Riding of Yorkshire and Bedstone House, Shropshire [U.K., 1880] on 14 December 1956.1 He was director of John Walker and Sons Ltd.3 He wrote the book Whisky for Tea.1 He lived in 2003 at The Oak, Bedstone, Shropshire, England.3 He lived in 2003 at 20 Abingdon Villas, London, England.1
