     Sir John Esplen, 1st Bt. was born on 7 April 1863.² He was the son of William Esplen.² He married Laura Louise Dickenson, daughter of John Dickenson, on 26 January 1898.² He died on 7 February 1930 at age 66.²
     He was senior director of Esplen, Sons & Swainstone, consulting engineers and naval architects.² He was chief technical advisor to the Minister of Shipping during the First World War.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1918.² He gained the title of 1st Baronet Esplen, of Hardres Court, Canterbury, Kent [U.K.] on 14 July 1921.²

     Laura Ray Esplen was the daughter of Sir John Esplen, 1st Bt. and Laura Louise Dickenson.² She married Sir Peter William Hoare, 7th Bt., son of Peter Arthur Marsham Hoare and Norah Alicia Beresford Falls, on 10 July 1929.¹ She died in 1992.¹
     From 10 July 1929, her married name became Hoare.

     Katrin Alexa Bernsteil is the daughter of Erwin Bernsteil.¹ She married, firstly, Sir Michael Robin Adderley Hodson, 6th Bt., son of Sir Edmond Adair Hodson, 5th Bt. and Anne Elizabeth Adderley Cradock, on 16 December 1963.² She and Sir Michael Robin Adderley Hodson, 6th Bt. were divorced in 1978.² She married, secondly, Sir Peter Richard David Hoare, 8th Bt., son of Sir Peter William Hoare, 7th Bt. and Laura Ray Esplen, in 1978.¹

     Sir David John Hoare, 9th Bt. was born on 8 October 1935.¹ He is the son of Sir Peter William Hoare, 7th Bt. and Laura Ray Esplen.² He married, firstly, Mary Vanessa Cardew, daughter of Peter Gordon Cardew, on 20 April 1965.¹ He and Mary Vanessa Cardew were divorced in 1978.¹ He married, secondly, Virginia Victoria Labes Menzies, daughter of Michael Menzies, in 1984.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He was a banker and farmer.¹ He was deputy chairman of C. Hoare and Company.¹ He lived in 2003 at Luscombe Castle, Dawlish, Devon, England^G.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Hoare, of Barn Elms, co. Surrey [G.B., 1786] on 26 June 2004.
