     Richard Maxwell Haldane was born on 27 October 1909.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Maldwyn Makgill Haldane and Mabel Constance Seymour.2 He married Ruth Kathleen Hunt, daughter of Athol Clifford Hunt, on 28 September 1939.1 He died on 2 January 1971 at age 61.1
     Richard Maxwell Haldane was educated at Loretto School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was General Secretary of the South African Society of Bank Officials.1 He was Vice-President of the South African Trades and Labour Council between 1949 and 1950.1

     Ruth Kathleen Hunt was the daughter of Athol Clifford Hunt.2 She married Richard Maxwell Haldane, son of Lt.-Col. Maldwyn Makgill Haldane and Mabel Constance Seymour, on 28 September 1939.1 She died in October 1970.1
     From 28 September 1939, her married name became Haldane.1
