     Brigadier Vivian John Lennox Napier was born on 13 July 1898.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir William Lennox Napier, 3rd Bt. and Mabel Edith Geraldine Forster.2 He married Marion Avis Lloyd, daughter of Lt.-Col. Sir John Conway Lloyd, on 12 February 1958.1 He died on 9 March 1990 at age 91 at Brecon, Powys, Wales.3
     He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, EnglandG.2 He was educated in 1917 at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1919.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 1st Battalion, Welch Regiment.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and became a POW.2 He gained the rank of Brigadier in the South Wales Borderers.2 He was Brigadier of the Mombasa Area between 1948 and 1949.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Breconshire between 1958 and 1964.2 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Breconshire in 1964.1
