     Joseph Rountree was born in 1863 at Markethill, Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland.1,2 He was the son of Thomas Rountree and Rachel Allen.1 He married Susannah Bennett, daughter of Henry Bennett and Margaret Bennett, circa 1892.1 He died on 25 June 1945 at Carters Terrace, Tinwald, Ashburton, New Zealand.1,3 He was buried at Ashburton Public Cemetery, Ashburton, New Zealand.3

     Thomas Rountree was born in 1834 at Ireland.1 He was the son of John Rountree.2 He married Rachel Allen, daughter of Alexander Allen and Rachel Ruddock, on 16 October 1856 at Loughall, County Armagh, Ireland.1,2
     Thomas and Rachel Allen immigrated to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New Zealand on the ship Chariot of Fame, arriving on 29 January 1863.1 He was a dairy worker with the Waterton Dairy and Cheese Factory from 1870 to 1880 at Waterton, Canterbury, New Zealand.1
