     He served (an unknown value) at Crimea, Ukraine^G.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the 48th Regiment of Foot.¹ He was Assistant Military Secretary between 1849 and 1855.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp between 1849 and 1855, Sir Edward Blakeney.¹ He fought in the Siege of Sebastopol.¹ He was Queen's Messenger in 1862.¹

     Hon. Mary Sophia Flower was the daughter of Henry Flower, 5th Viscount Ashbrook and Frances Robinson.¹ She married Major Robert Blakeney, son of John Henry Blakeney and Charlotte Mahon, on 2 October 1860.¹ She died on 17 April 1886.¹
     From 2 October 1860, her married name became Blakeney.¹
