Sir George Chetwode, 6th Bt. was born on 20 July 1823 at Chesterton, Oxfordshire, England.3 He was the son of Reverend George Chetwode and Charlotte Anne Walhouse.2 He married Alice Jane Bass, daughter of Michael Thomas Bass and Eliza Jane Arden, on 21 October 1868.4 He died on 28 June 1905 at age 81.1
Lt.-Col. Sir George Chetwode, 6th Bt. was commissioned in 1840, in the service of the 4th Foot.3 He fought in the Crimean War.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 8th Hussars.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Chetwode, of Oakley, co. Stafford [E., 1700] on 8 September 1873.1
