     Margaret Esther Hamilton Beamish was born on 1 July 1880.¹ She was the daughter of Rear-Adm. Henry Hamilton Beamish and Blanche Georgina Hughes.¹ She married Lt.-Col. Horace Mackenzie Smith, son of Henry Smith, on 9 March 1904, leaving issue.¹ She died on 21 May 1957 at age 76.¹
     From 9 March 1904, her married name became Smith.¹
