     He held the office of High Sheriff of County Wicklow in 1865.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Wicklow.2 He lived at Laragh House, Stratford, County Wicklow, Ireland.1

     Robert Caesar Childers was born in 1838.2 He was the son of Reverend Charles Childers and Dulcibella Chester.3,2 He married Anna Mary Henrietta Barton, daughter of Thomas Johnston Barton and Frances Morris.1 He died on 25 July 1876.1
     He was with the Ceylon Civil Service between 1860 and 1864.2 He edited the book Pali Texts, published between 1869 and 1874.2 He was Professor of Pali and Buddhist Literature at University College London, London, England.2 He was Sub-Librarian in the India Office between 1872 and 1873.2 He wrote the book 1st Pali Dictionary, published between 1872 and 1875, 2 volumes.2 He conclusively proved that Sinhalese (hitherto considered a Dravidian language) belonged to Indo-European linguistic family.2

     Captain Charles Erskine Barton was born on 7 December 1882.1 He was the son of Charles William Barton and Agnes Alexandra Frances Childers.1 He married Nora Grace Greene, daughter of Henry Richard Greene, in November 1903.1 He died in August 1918 at age 35 at France, killed in action.1
     He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Irish Regiment.1
