     James Booth was born in 1796.1 He was the son of Thomas Booth and Esther Noble.1 He married Jane Noble in 1827.2 He died on 11 May 1880.1,2
     He was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.2 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He was Counsel to the Speaker of the House of Commons in 1839.1 He held the office of Secretary of the Board of Trade between 1856 and 1865.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1866.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3

Charles Booth and Mary Catherine Macaulay.1 He married Mary Honora Spring Rice, daughter of Stephen Edward Spring Rice and Julia Emma Isabella FitzGerald, on 30 July 1919.1 He died on 7 November 1968 at age 82.1
     He was awarded the Coronation Medal in 1953.1
