     Colonel John Henry Alexander was born on 22 May 1839.¹ He was the son of Nathaniel Alexander and Sophia Hickey.¹ He married Katherine Mary Francis, daughter of General J. Francis, on 23 November 1880.¹ He died on 3 February 1900 at age 60.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Horse Artillery (R.H.A.)¹
