Sir William Stewart, 1st Bt. was the son of Archibald Stewart.2 He married Frances Newcomen, daughter of Sir Robert Newcomen.3 He died on 8 October 1646, between and 28 July 1647.3 His will was probated in 1647.4

(I).3 He lived Newtownstewart.3 He was migrated to Ireland as Captain of 100 foot soldiers, undertaker (i.e., broker) of escheated lands in County Wexford 1612 in 1608.3 He was Captain of the company of 100 Scottish soldiers in June 1608 in Ireland.4 He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) (I Parl) County Donegal and 1634–35 in 1613.3 In 1613 made a free denizen of Ireland and knighted.3 He was invested as a Knight in 1613.4 He was created 1st Baronet Stewart, of Ramalton, co. Donegal [Ireland] in 1623.1 On 2 May 1623 so created.3

Sir Francis Hamilton, 1st Bt. was born before 1610.1 He was the son of Sir Claud Hamilton and Jane Lauder.2 He married, firstly, Laetitia Coote, daughter of Sir Charles Coote, 1st Bt. and Dorothea Cuffe, before 1640.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Barlow, daughter of Randall Barlow and Elizabeth Wheeler, after 1640.1 He died in 1673.1 His will was probated in 1674, in the Prerogative Court [Ireland].1
He was naturalized as a denizen of Ireland on 12 February 1618.1 On 20 July 1621 he received the Cavan estates from his grandfather, Sir Alexander Hamilton.1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] as one of the Council of Munster to King James I.1 He was created 1st Baronet Hamilton, of Killaugh, co. Cavan [Scotland] on 29 September 1628, with grant of 16,000 acres in Nova Scotia (which he had seizin of in Nov 1628).1 On 17 June 1631 the estates of Clonkine, Carrotubber and Clonyn were formed into the single manor of Castle Killagh, afterwards Castle Hamilton, County Cavan.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Jamestown [Ireland] between 1639 and 1648.1 He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of County Cavan.1 He was Commissioner for the Act of Settlement in 1661.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Cavan [Ireland] between 1661 and 1666.1 He lived at Killaugh, County Down, Ireland.2

Jane Lauder was the daughter of Robert Lauder of the Bass.1 She married, firstly, Sir Claud Hamilton, son of Sir Alexander Hamilton of Innerwick, before 1610.2 She married, secondly, Sir Arthur Forbes, 1st Bt., son of William Forbes of Corse and Elizabeth Strachan, between 12 February 1618 and 1623.1
