Sir John Elphinstone, 4th Bt. was born on 11 January 1717.1 He was the son of Sir John Elphinstone, 2nd Bt. and Mary Elliot.2 He died in January 1743, unmarried.1

Charles Napier Lawrence, 1st and last Baron Lawrence of Kingsgate was born on 27 May 1855.1 He was the son of John Laird Mair Lawrence, 1st Baron Lawrence and Harriette Katherine Hamilton.1 He married Catherine Sumner, daughter of F. W. Sumner, on 22 June 1881.1 He died on 17 December 1927 at age 72, without issue.1

Kent [U.K.] on 23 July 1923.1 He was chairman of the North British and Mercantile Insurance Company.1 He was chairman of the Antofagasta and Bolivia Railway.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1
