     Sir John Edmund Cradock-Hartopp, 9th Bt. was born on 8 April 1912.1 He was the son of Francis Gerald Cradock-Hartopp and Elizabeth Ada Mary Stuart.2 He married Prudence Leith-Ross, daughter of Sir Frederick William Leith-Ross and Prudence Staples, on 29 April 1953.1 He died on 7 August 1996 at age 84.1
     He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Engineers.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Cradock-Hartopp, of Freathby, co. Leicester [G.B., 1796] on 5 September 1949.1 He was a director of Firth Brown Tools between 1961 and 1996.1
