     Sir Henry Nevill Dering, 9th Bt. was born on 21 September 1839.1 He was the son of Sir Edward Cholmeley Dering, 8th Bt. and Hon. Jane Edwardes.1 He married Rosa Ann Underwood, daughter of Joseph Underwood, on 20 October 1863.1 He died on 25 August 1906 at age 66.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the East Kent Mounted Rifles.1 He was with the Diplomatic Corps between 1869 and 1906.1 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Mexico in 1894.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1896.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Dering, of Surrenden Dering, co. Kent [E., 1626] on 1 April 1896.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Kent.1 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Brazil between 1900 and 1906.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1901.1

     Sir Edward Cholmeley Dering, 8th Bt. was born on 19 November 1807.1 He was the son of Edward Dering and Henrietta Nevil.2 He married Hon. Jane Edwardes, daughter of William Edwardes, 2nd Baron Kensington and Dorothy Patricia Thomas, on 10 April 1832.1 He died on 1 April 1896 at age 88.1
     He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Dering, of Surrenden Dering, co. Kent [E., 1626] on 30 June 1811.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Kent between 1852 and 1857.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Kent between 1863 and 1868.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1

     Hon. Jane Edwardes was the daughter of William Edwardes, 2nd Baron Kensington and Dorothy Patricia Thomas. She married Sir Edward Cholmeley Dering, 8th Bt., son of Edward Dering and Henrietta Nevil, on 10 April 1832.1 She died on 1 September 1897.1
     Her married name became Dering.

     William Edwardes, 2nd Baron Kensington was born on 24 April 1777.1 He was the son of William Edwardes, 1st Baron Kensington and Elizabeth Warren.2 He married Dorothy Patricia Thomas, daughter of Richard Thomas, on 2 December 1797.1 He died on 10 August 1852 at age 75.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Kensington [I., 1776] on 13 December 1801.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haverfordwest between 1802 and 1818.1 He held the office of a Lord of the Admiralty from 1806 to 1807.1
