James Howard Lindsay graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.).¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).¹ He was a practising barrister.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 14th Battalion (London Scottish), County of London Regiment.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1917, where he was wounded and mentioned in despatches.¹ He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.¹

James Howard Lindsay, son of William Alexander Lindsay and Lady Harriet Gordon, on 15 August 1906.¹ She died on 25 December 1965 at age 84.¹
