     Mary Augusta Lindsay was the daughter of Charles Robert Lindsay and Rhoda Charlotte Gwatkin.1 She married Rt. Hon. Sir Richard Temple, 1st Bt., son of Richard Temple and Louisa Anne Rivett-Carnac, on 28 January 1871.1 She died on 9 March 1924.1
     She was awarded the Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.)1 From 28 January 1871, her married name became Temple.

     Rt. Hon. Sir Richard Temple, 1st Bt. was born on 8 March 1826.2 He was the son of Richard Temple and Louisa Anne Rivett-Carnac.3,2 He married, firstly, Charlotte Frances Martindale, daughter of Benjamin Martindale, on 27 December 1849.2 He married, secondly, Mary Augusta Lindsay, daughter of Charles Robert Lindsay and Rhoda Charlotte Gwatkin, on 28 January 1871.1 He died on 15 March 1902 at age 76.2
     He held the office of with the Bengal Civil Service in 1846.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.)2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.) in 1867.2 He was Foreign Secretary and Finance member of the Council of the Governor-General of India between 1868 and 1874.2 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal between 1874 and 1876.2 He was created 1st Baronet Temple, of The Nash, Kempsey, co. Worcester [U.K.] on 16 August 1876.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Star of India (G.C.S.I.) in 1877.2 He held the office of Governor of Bengal between 1877 and 1880.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Evesham between 1885 and 1892.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kingston, Surrey between 1892 and 1895.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Worcestershire.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1896.2 He lived at The Nash, Kempsey, Worcestershire, England.2
