     James Grant Smith was born on 27 October 1910 at Granum, Willow Creek, Alberta, Canada.2 He married Dorothy Joy Nora Pepys Harington, daughter of Lt.-Col. Herbert Hastings Harington and Dorothy Caroline Pepys, in August 1942.1 He died on 10 December 1943 at age 33 at Ortona, Italy, killed in action.1,2
     He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, Royal Canadian Infantry Corps.2

     Deborah Askew was born circa 1764.1 She was the daughter of Anthony Askew and Elizabeth Holford.1 She married Sir Lucas Pepys, 1st Bt., son of William Pepys and Hannah Russell, on 29 June 1813 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 21 June 1848 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 Her will was proven (by probate) in August 1848.1
     From 29 June 1813, her married name became Pepys.1
