Sir David Robert Clayton, 12th Bt. was born on 12 December 1936.1 He is the son of Sir Arthur Harold Clayton, 11th Bt. and Alexandra Andreevsky.2 He married Julia Louise Redfearn, daughter of Charles Henry Redfearn, in 1971.1
He was educated at H.M.S. Conway, EnglandG.1 He was educated at John Cass College, London, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1970 in the Merchant Navy.1 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Clayton, of Marden, co. Surrey [G.B., 1732] in 1985.1 He was a director of Ocenaic Liners (UK) Ltd in 1989.1 He lived in 2003 at Rock House, Kingswear, Dartmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1
