     James Wilfrid Hewitt, 5th Viscount Lifford was born on 12 October 1837 at Astley, Coventry, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of James Hewitt, 4th Viscount Lifford and Lady Mary Acheson.1 He married Annie Frances Hodgson, daughter of Sir Arthur Hodgson, on 4 July 1867.2 He died on 20 March 1913 at age 75 at Austin House, Broadway, Worcestershire, EnglandG.1
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.2 He gained the rank of Ensign in 1856 in the 4th Foot.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1857 in the 3rd Foot.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the Donegal Royal Field Reserve Artillery.2 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Lifford, co. Donegal [I., 1781] on 20 November 1887.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baron Lifford of Lifford, co. Donegal [I., 1768] on 20 November 1887.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Donegal.2
