     Sir John Chapman, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1710.1 He was the son of Sir William Chapman, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Webb.1 He married, firstly, Rachel Edmondson, daughter of James Edmondson, in December 1736.1 He married, secondly, Sarah (?) after 1764.1 He died on 29 January 1781, without issue.1 His will was proven (by probate) in February 1781.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Chapman, of London [G.B., 1720] on 7 May 1737.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between 1741 and 1747.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Hertfordshire from 1759 to 1760.1
