     William Brass, 1st and last Baron Chattisham was born on 11 February 1886.1 He was the son of William Brass.1 He died on 24 August 1945 at age 59, unmarried.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War, in France, Egypt and Italy, serving in the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire, Clitheroe Division between 1922 and 1945.2 He was a director of the Guardian Assurance Company.2 He was created 1st Baron Chattisham, of Clitheroe, co. Lancaster [U.K.] on 13 July 1945.1
     On his death, his barony became extinct.1
