     John Heywood Johnstone was born on 18 May 1850.2 He is the son of Reverend George Dempster Johnstone and Mary Anne Hawkins.3 He married Josephine Wells, daughter of John Joseph Wells, on 5 June 1878.2 He died on 10 October 1904 at age 54.2
     He lived at Bignor Park, Sussex, EnglandG.1 He lived at Trewithen, Cornwall, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 John Heywood Johnstone usually went by his middle name of Heywood.2 He was educated at Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1872 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1874 entitled to practice as a barrister.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Horsham between 1893 and 1904.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Sussex.2
