William Charles Fortescue, 2nd Viscount Clermont was born on 12 October 1764.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. James Fortescue and Mary Henrietta Hunter.2,1 He died on 24 June 1829 at age 64 at Ravensdale Park, County Louth, Ireland, unmarried.1 His will was probated in October 1829, at £41,808 personalty.1
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the British Army.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Louth [Ireland] between 1795 and 1800.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for County Louth between 1800 and 1806.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Clermont, of Clermont, co. Louth [I., 1776] on 30 September 1806.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Clermont, of Clermont, co. Louth [I., 1776] on 30 September 1806.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Ireland] on 2 April 1821.1
On his death, his titles became extinct.2
