John Campbell of Succoth was born circa 1645.1 He was the son of William Campbell of Succoth and Lillias Houstoun.2 He married, firstly, Janet Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton, in 1670.1 He married, secondly, Agnes Stirling, daughter of William Stirling of Law, before 1677.1
He was a practising writer (legal practitioner) at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 Between 1672 and 1677 he recorded his arms.1 He held the office of Burgess of Glasgow in 1679.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Argyll [Scotland] from 1681 to 1682.1 In 1687 he bought the Garscube estate from Sir James Colquhoun of Luss, 4th Bt.1

Janet Hamilton was the daughter of James Hamilton.2 She married John Campbell of Succoth, son of William Campbell of Succoth and Lillias Houstoun, in 1670.1 She died in 1675.1

Sir William Fairfax was born circa 1531.2 He was the son of Sir Nicholas Fairfax and Jane Palmes.3 He married, secondly, Jane Stapleton, daughter of Bryan Stapleton.3 He married, firstly, Agnes Darcy, daughter of George Darcy, 2nd Lord Darcy.3 He died on 1 November 1597.3

William Campbell of Succoth was born circa 1679.1 He was the son of John Campbell of Succoth and Agnes Stirling.2 He married Margaret Walkinshaw, daughter of John Walkinshaw of Barrowfield, in 1701.1 He died in 1764.1
In 1689 he had disposition of Garscube but resigned all his lands to the Crown 1707 for regrant as the free (territorial) Barony of Succoth.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Dumbarton Castle between 1708 and 1764.1
