     Sir Ian Vincent Hamilton Campbell of Barcaldine, 7th Bt. was born on 7 May 1895.1 He was the son of Richard Hamilton Campbell and Ellen Emily Harington Gompertz.2 He married, firstly, Madeline Lowe Reid Whitelocke, daughter of H. Anglin Whitelocke, on 14 July 1920.1 He married, secondly, Iris Constance Gibb, daughter of Lt.-Col. Ronald Charles Gibb, on 2 June 1932.1 He married, thirdly, Agnes Louise Gerhardi, daughter of William Henry Gerhardi, on 14 November 1942.1 He died on 14 April 1978 at age 82.1
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1919 in the King’s Liverpool Regiment.1 He was Private Secretary to the Chief of Air Staff between 1927 and 1930.1 He was Assistant Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, Air between 1930 and 1934.1 He was Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, Air in 1934.1 He was Assistant Secretary of the Air Minister in 1939.1 His marriage to Iris Constance Gibb was annulled in 1942.1 He held the office of Assistant Under-Secretary of State between 1945 and 1955.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1951.1 He held the office of Hereditary Keeper of Barcaldine Castle on 11 July 1963.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Campbell, of Barcaldine, co. Argyll [U.K., 1831] on 11 July 1963.1
