     Ruth Sophia Joan Gore was born on 9 April 1902.1 She was the daughter of Leicester Gore and Sophia Harris Mitchell.1 She married Alexander Moncrieff Coutanche, Baron Coutanche, son of Adolphus Arnold Coutanche and Jane Alexandrina Finlayson, on 23 August 1924.1 She died on 7 August 1973 at age 71.1
     From 23 August 1924, her married name became Coutanche.1 She was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.)1

     Alexander Moncrieff Coutanche, Baron Coutanche was born on 9 May 1892.2 He was the son of Adolphus Arnold Coutanche and Jane Alexandrina Finlayson.2 He married Ruth Sophia Joan Gore, daughter of Leicester Gore and Sophia Harris Mitchell, on 23 August 1924.3 He died on 18 December 1973 at age 81.1
     He was educated at Victoria College, Jersey, Channel IslandsG.2 He was Advocate of the Royal Court in 1913.2 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1915 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He fought in the First World War between 1917 and 1920, where he was mentioned in dispatches.2 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre (Belgian.)2 He gained the rank of Staff Captain in 1919.2 He held the office of Solicitor-General [Jersey] between 1925 and 1931.2 He held the office of Attorney-General [Jersey] between 1931 and 1935.2 He held the office of President of the States of Jersey between 1935 and 1961.2 He was appointed Knight in 1945.2 He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.) in 1946.2 He held the office of Bailiff of Jersey.2 He held the office of Bencher of Middle Temple in 1961.2 He was created Baron Coutanche, of St. Brelade in Jersey and of the City of Westminster [U.K. Life Peer] on 11 July 1961.1
